Melissa & Doug’s wooden and well-designed picture memory game is not only educational but children find it fascinating at the same time too.
It comes with seven reversible picture cards that are stored very neatly in the back of the wooden board. The player to find the most number of matching pairs by opening up the wooden windows on the board is the winner. This is a two-player game.
Perfect for travel
Why this game is perfect for travel is that the wooden windows are all connected to the board on elastics so nothing can fall off or get lost. The score board is also elasticised and the themed game cards are stored neatly in the slot at the back of the board.
How to play
Players take turns to open up two windows. If they reveal two matching pitures the doors remain open and hte player scores a point on his or her score tracker.
The player continues to play until they can no longer find a matching pair. Then play moves to the other player.
Themes
Themes of the game cards include:
- Farm
- Zoo
- Shapes
- Colours
- Numbers
- Vehicles
- Fruit
What your child will learn
- This is essentially a visual memory game testing your child’s ability to remember the position of various pictures on the board. If the other player reveals two mismatching pictures and you remember where they are, this can help you to find more pairs quicker, and to win the game.
- How to win and lose
- How to think and remember under pressure
The final, fascinating reward at the end of the game
Once all the windows are open and the game is complete, children love nothing more than to run their fingers across the board from row to row. As they close the windows at speed there is this satisfying clacking noise.
