With Women’s Day coming up in August, companies and organisations look for inspiring quotes to inspire women and celebrate the moment. I have put some of my favourites together for you.

“Women are the world’s most underused resource.” Hillary Rodham Clinton

“It is okay to wake up one day and realise that we do not always have to keep fighting with people and with life. When someone and something is worthy of our time and love, we will give them all we have.” Jenna Clifford

“There’s a new generation of female leaders coming.” Graca Machel

“Women can have it all, but not all at the same time.” Nikki Bush

“Women need to shift from thinking “I’m not ready to do that” to thinking “I want to do that- and I’ll learn by doing it.” Sheryl Sandberg, Lean In

“The more women help one another, the more we help ourselves. Acting like a coalition truly does produce results. Any coalition of support must also include men, many of whom care about gender inequality as much as women do.”
Sheryl Sandberg, Lean In

Women in particular need to keep an eye on their physical and mental health, because if we’re scurrying to and from appointments and errands, we don’t have a lot of time to take care of ourselves. We need to do a better job of putting ourselves higher on our own ‘to do’ list.

Michelle Obama
“For every woman and girl violently attacked, we reduce our humanity. For every woman forced into unprotected sex because men demand this, we destroy dignity and pride. Every woman who has to sell her life for sex we condemn to a lifetime in prison. For every moment we remain silent, we conspire against our women. For every woman infected by HIV, we destroy a generation.” Nelson Mandela

“I truly believe that a community of women entrepreneurs supporting and mentoring one another can accomplish amazing things and accelerate the progress of women entrepreneurship in Africa.” Melanie Hawken, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Lionesses of Africa

“Encouraging other women from all walks of life to achieve their aspirations and be successful is of great importance to me. Women have much to gain from networking with other women who are successful, in whatever their chosen field” Pam Golding

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” Coco Chanel

“Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness.” Oprah Winfrey

“Being fully present is the biggest challenge for 21st century women and it is also our greatest tool.” Nikki Bush

“… women just make it work. We juggle a crazy amount of things and we make it work. So much of launching your own startup is dealing with all the things that come at you from all these angles and you have to make it work. Women already do that every day. I don’t think women should be intimated by it, I think they should think they are at an advantage.” Cynthia Breazeal, founder and CEO of Jibo Inc

“Freedom cannot be achieved unless women have been emancipated from all forms of oppression… Our endeavors must be about the liberation of the woman, the emancipation of the man and the liberty of the child.” Nelson Mandela

“As long as outmoded ways of thinking prevent women from making a meaningful contribution to society, progress will be slow. As long as the nation refuses to acknowledge the equal role of more than half of itself, it is doomed to failure.”

Women need real moments of solitude and self-reflection to balance out how much of ourselves we give away. Barbara de Angelis

The value of booking a female motivational speaker in August

Empowerment of women in the workforce means encouraging them to take more control of, and responsibility for, their own lives by:

  • creating financial independence
  • upskilling themselves
  • advancing their qualifications
  • fighting for equal pay
  • demanding equal opportunities
  • standing against sexual and domestic violence
  • improving their parenting skills
  • improving their relationship skills
  • keeping perspective
  • developing values to live by
  • discovering the power of choice
  • becoming independent and self-reliant
  • crafting their own personal brand
  • managing their stress
