Co-existence, collaboration and co-operation should be our watchwords. Stop with the violence, down with the hate.
Wars and power struggles are very unsettling, even if you don’t live in a conflict zone. Sometimes I do wonder if the human race learns from it’s past mistakes at all. There are moments when I imagine these scenarios playing out, putting us all on the same side, enabling us to all win:
- What if soldiers in conflicts around the world put down their weapons, walked over the line to each other and hugged?
- What if we just refused to fight each other and chose rather to collaborate (this goes as much for countries as it does for companies and marriages)
- What if politicians stopped playing power games and served the people, spent money where it’s supposed to be spent and provided promised services and utilities to provide a quality life for all?
- What if countries modelled social integration on what Singapore has been able to achieve in a very short time span? Having just visited that very small country that manufactures nothing and has almost no natural resources, they have created something spectacular. This prevents single group enclaves from developing and ensures cultural harmony and respect.
A celebration of co-existence…One Day
When the human race is in pain, sometimes music helps. It certainly helps me.
In this very moving social musical initiative, just watch what can happen when people come together. In 2018, Koolulam invited 3 000 people who had never met before to sing in Haifa in three languages, Hebrew, Arabic and English. It’s a beautiful celebration of co-existence.
It took just one hour for 3 000 people to learn their parts. Listen to the beauty they created together. Koolulam shows how we can harness the power of musical harmony and use it to inspire harmony in humanity. Hundreds of thousands of people have already joined the movement to create social change through musical co-operation.
Against the backdrop of human terror which continues to play out in countries around the world, minute by minute, and on our TV screens, may this be your glimmer of hope and light this week.
There are crusaders for hope like Koolulam. Watch One Day….and be inspired to be one yourself.
Lyrics for One Day by Koolulam
Sometimes I lay under the moon and thank God I’m breathing
Then I pray, “Don’t take me soon, ’cause I am here for a reason”
Sometimes in my tears I drown
But I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds
I know some day it’ll all turn around, because…
All my life I’ve been waiting for, I’ve been praying for
For the people to say
That we don’t wanna fight no more, there’ll be no more wars
And our children will play
One day (One day), one day (One day), one day (Oh-oh-ohh)
One day (One day), one day (One day), one day (Oh-oh-ohh)
It’s not about win or lose, ’cause we all lose when they feed
On the souls of the innocent, blood-drenched pavement
Keep on moving though the waters stay raging
In this maze, you can lose your way (Your way)
It might drive you crazy, but don’t let it phase you, no way (No way)
Sometimes in my tears I drown (I drown)
But I never let it get me down (Get me dow-own)
So when negativity surrounds (Surrounds)
I know some day it’ll all turn around, because…
All my life I’ve been waiting for (Waiting for)
I’ve been praying for (Praying for)
For the people to say
That we don’t wanna fight no more (Fight no more)
They’ll be no more war (No more war)
And our children will play
One day (One day), one day (One day), one day (Oh-oh-ohh, one day)
One day (One day), one day (One day), one day (Oh-oh-ohh)
One day this all will change, treat people the same
Stop with the violence, down with the hate
One day we’ll all be free, and proud to be
Under the same sun, singing songs of freedom like:
Why-ohhh , why-ohh-ohh-ohh
(One day, one day, oh-oh-oh)
Why-ohhh, why-ohh-ohh-ohh
(One day, one day, oh-oh-oh)
All my life I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been praying for
For the people to say (Ay-yay-yay-yay-yay-oh)
That we don’t wanna fight no more (Ay-yay-yay-yay-yay-oh)
They’ll be no more war
And our children will play
(Why-ohhh , why-ohh-ohh-ohh)
One day (One day), one day (One day), one day (Oh-oh-ohh)
(Why-ohhh , why-ohh-ohh-ohh)
One day (One day), one day (One day), one day (Oh-oh-ohh)
Ooo-ahoo, ah-yah-ahha
Am-aba-ah-ah-oh-oh
(One day, one day, one day)
Am-ah-ah-ah-oh-oh
Sending you love and light wherever you may be and whatever you may be facing.
Stop with the violence, down with the hate.
Please share this with your family and your team at work.
